Description

Brilliant signature from Jimi Hendrix, who adds "The Best of luck & Happiness"

Excellent vintage ballpoint signatures, “The Best of luck & Happiness, Jimi Hendrix” and “Cheers, Noel Redding,” on both sides of a light pink 5.25 x 3.25 album page. In fine condition, with light toning along the right edge of the Hendrix side from a tape stain on the Redding side.

Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA and by a letter of provenance, which reads, in part: “Jimi was touring with the Walker Bros., and was not at all well known in England at the time. When Jimi signed his autograph he was playing chess with Barbara back stage in a theatre in Stoke-on-Trent…Barbara at the time was in a relationship with…John Walker.”

On April 23, 1967, the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed two shows at the Gaumont Cinema in Hanley, Staffordshire as part of their ‘package tour’ alongside The Walker Brothers, Cat Stevens, Engelbert Humperdinck, The Californians, and The Quotations. Although the Experience received modest billing at the start of the tour, by year's end they were one of the most sought-after tickets in live music, soaring high off the successful debut of Are You Experienced and their now-legendary performance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival.
