ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.75 x 8, February 20, 1931. Letter to a judge, in part: "I am very proud of your review of my little book. You gave me the idea of fathering the addresses into a volume, so that some of the responsibility for preserving them may perhaps be chargeable to you. It is pleasant to be assured that you have felt no cause for repentance. Your appreciation of my work is a joy and an encouragement." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing, and staple holes along the left edge of the second page. In 1931, Harcourt, Brace and Company published Cardozo's 'Law and Literature,' a collection of essays and addresses.
