Scarce appointment of a Navy chaplain in 1828

Desirable partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “J. Q. Adams,” one page, 13.75 x 18.5, April 24, 1828. President Adams appoints Greenbury W. Ridgely as a "Chaplain in the Navy in the Service of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by John Quincy Adams, and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Samuel L. Southard. Beige Navy Department seal remains affixed to lower vignette. In fine condition, with light overall rippling.
