DS, signed “Julius H. (Groucho) Marx,” one onionskin page, 8.5 x 11, February 11, 1958. An official protest letter to the State of California Franchise Tax Board, in part: "Taxpayer hereby protests against findings contained in the report sent to him date January 1, 1958. The question presented in the proposed assessment notice involves a proposed adjustment made in accordance with a federal audit report which has since been taken on appeal to the United States Tax Court and decided in favor of the taxpayer…In accordance with the above decision of the United States Tax Court, the taxpayer respectfully requests that the proposed adjustment be withdrawn." Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Groucho with his given name, and countersigned by a notary public. In very good to fine condition, with some light staining, and the signature quite faded but completely legible.
