Description

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, Office of the Admiral letterhead, December 26, 1899. Letter to Secretary of the Navy John D. Long, in part: "I have to acknowledge the receipt of your kind letter of the 22d instant, enclosing one from Mr. D. G. Purse, of Savannah, Ga., renewing the invitation of the people of that city for me to visit Savannah in company with Mrs. Dewey. I have today advised Mr. Purse that I have not changed my intention to visit the South in the early spring, and have suggested that it would be very agreeable to me to go to Savannah at some time between the middle and end of March." In fine condition, with some light creasing.
