The earlier letter, signed as president, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, October 21, 1986, in part: “Nancy and I are delighted to join your friends who have gathered to congratulate you on your birthday. We wish we could be there for this special celebration and to toast our friendship”; and the second letter, one page, 6.25 x 8.5, personal letterhead, February 27, 1990, in part: “I want you to know how much I appreciate your remembering me on my birthday. I am touched by your warm sentiments and kindness.” In overall fine condition.
