Description

Born Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini in Italy in 1897, Paul VI reigned as pope from 1963 until his death in 1978. TLS in Italian, signed “G. B. Card. Montini, Arciv.,” one page, 8.5 x 7.5, Cardinal Archbishop of Milan letterhead, February 1, 1959. Letter sending thanks for a collection of 'Modern Police' magazines, in part (translated): "I see in this collection a precious documentation that says the wise and patient effort of the guardians of public order, and that illustrates men, systems, events and deeds from which the State draws its strength and the citizen its security." In fine condition, with intersecting folds.
