Russian-American businessman and pioneer of American radio and television (1891-1971) who ruled over an ever-growing telecommunications and media empire that included both RCA and NBC, and became one of the largest companies in the world. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Radio Corporation of America letterhead, August 30, 1950. Letter to Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr., in part: "I regret that I am unable to comply with the request…for use of my name on the Sponsoring Committee for the election of Mr. James Roosevelt for Governor of California. First, I would say to you that because of my connections with broadcasting I have consistently followed the policy of not affiliating myself with any political activity. Secondly, not being a resident of the State of California I do not think that a citizen of New York can properly inject himself into politics in California." In fine condition.
