Description

Tony Glover's set of three 1/4-inch reel-to-reel audio tapes of the legendary 'Basement Tapes' featuring Bob Dylan and The Band, marked on the spines: "Basement Tape, Reel I - 1967," "Basement Tape - Reel II," and "Dylan - Summer 1967 Songs with The Band." The first two are on Scotch 203 tape, and marked with track lists on the backs: "Million Dollar Bash, Apple Sucker Tree, Talkin' (Clothsline) Blues, Yea Heavy & A Bottle of Bread, I'm Not There, Odds & Ends, Get Your Rocks Off, Down in the Flood, Lo & Behold, Tiny Montgomery" and "This Wheel's On Fire, Nothing Was Delivered, Open the Door Homer, Quinn the Eskimo, You Ain't Goin Nowhere, Too Much of Nothin', Tears of Rage, Please Mrs. Henry, I Shall Be Released." The third reel, on Scotch 141 tape, has a typed track list of 13 songs inside, all of which appear on the other two tapes. In overall very good to fine condition.

Recorded in West Saugerties, New York, during the summer of 1967, the 'Basement Tapes' consist of over 100 songs recorded by Bob Dylan and his then-backing group, the Band. These included original compositions as well as covers of traditional folk ballads, classic blues tunes, and other pieces. The songs on these tapes are original pieces by Dylan and the Band. These were the first Dylan bootlegs to be widely disseminated, and are mythical in this format.
