Signer of the Declaration of Independence from North Carolina (1742-1790). ADS, one page, 7.25 x 12, September 5, 1770. Handwritten court document concerning the destruction of property of one John Osborn, including the death of a dog. Hooper fills out the second half of the document in his own hand, in part: "William Robeson late of the County of Rowan Labourer…did with force and arms one Dog of the price of five pounds proclamation money of the goods and chattels of one Jonathan Osborn then and there being found unlawfully wilfully maliciously then and there did kill and destroy to the great damage of the said Jonathan Osborn and against the peace of our Lord the King his Crown and Dignity." In very good to fine condition, with light staining, and complete separation to its central horizontal fold.
