Highly sought-after pairing of film contracts signed by Marlon Brando in relation to the 1979 war film Apocalypse Now. The first is a one-page screen credit release waiver, 8.5 x 11, December 1, 1977, submitted to Coppola Cinema Seven and signed neatly at the conclusion in black ink by Brando, who agrees to “waive the rights which I have to receive credit on the screen from my services rendered in connection with the film either under the agreement for my said services or pursuant to the Screen Actors Guild Codified basic Agreement of 1967 as amended.” The second document, one page, 8.5 x 11, July 18, 1979, concerns “screen and paid ad purposes, as well as subsidiary rights exploitation and advertising,” and is signed twice at the conclusion in black ballpoint by Brando, who approves the following four stipulations: “1. The presentation credit appearing before my name can be changed from ‘Coppola Cinema Seven Presents’ to ‘Francis Ford Coppola Presents,’” “2. Martin Sheen’s name may appear above the title, in third position, after my name and that of Robert Duvall,” “3. I have approved the likeness of myself appearing, together with the likeness of Robert Duvall and Martin Sheen, on the present artwork of the picture, a copy of which is attached,” and “4. With respect to the screen credits on versions where screen credits are to be given, I agree that the directing and writing credits may appear above mine, so long as my credit still appears on a separate card.” In overall fine condition.
