Description

Partly-printed DS, signed “J. D. Rockfeller,” one page, 15.75 x 7.75, April 5, 1882. Stock certificate for one hundred shares in the Standard Oil Trust issued to "John Huntington." Nicely signed at the conclusion in black ink by Rockefeller as the company's president and countersigned by Henry M. Flagler as secretary. Receipt stub affixed to left side. In fine condition, with a small surface tear to the bottom of the attached left panel. John P. Huntington was an industrialist and philanthropist (1832-1893) who was associated with Rockefeller's Standard Oil and was prominent in the business affairs of Cleveland's oil industry.
