American inventor and entrepreneur (1886-1956) best known for developing the first successful quick-freezing process for foods. The company Birdseye, founded and later sold for $22 million, grew to become the conglomerate General Foods. Vintage ink signatures, "Clarence Birdseye" and "Eleanor Gannett Birdseye," on an off-white 6 x 4.5 album page. Typed collector's caption dates the signatures to Gloucester, Massachusetts, May 1946.
