Description

Hungarian composer and pianist (1813-1888) best known for his characteristic keyboard works. ALS in German, four pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 8, personal monogrammed letterhead, May 10, 1860. Untranslated letter to revered violinist Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst, bemoaning the heavy burden a composer must carry and saying he is glad to hear that Ernst has written a quator: "Your compositions are frequently playing in London, Dublin, and in Germany." Heller also makes mention of his own works, Op. 4 "Genrebild," and Op. 95 "Allegre Pastorale." In fine condition. From the collection of Stephen Adamson.
