Description

English lawyer, author, lyricist, and broadcaster (1848-1929) who wrote lyrics for approximately 3,000 popular songs, including the sentimental ballad 'Danny Boy,' the religious 'The Holy City,' and the wartime song 'Roses of Picardy.' ALS signed “Fred. E. Weatherly,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, Waterloo Lodge letterhead, July 3, 1907. In part: "Would much like to see you. Would from 5 to 7 suit you? Or later, after returning from theatre—say 11 p.m. It is difficult to explain what my lecture concert is in a letter. In conversation I can easily explain." In fine condition. From the collection of Stephen Adamson.
