American financier (1786-1844) and president of the Bank of the United States. Partly-printed DS, signed “N. Biddle,” one page, 9.5 x 4.25, December 10, 1831. Promissory note from the Bank of the United States, issued to Baring Brothers & Co., of London, which states: "Sixty days after sight of this Third of Exchange First & Second of same tenor & date unpaid pay to M. Robinson Cash or order One thousand pounds sterling, value received & charge the same to account of this Bank with or without further advice For the President Directors & Company of the Bank of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by Nicholas Biddle as the bank's president. In very good to fine condition, with light overall creasing, light toning to the left side, and a short tear to the bottom edge.
