Description

Franco-Swiss pianist and conductor (1877-1962) known for his Romantic period piano works, particularly those of Chopin and Schumann, and considered one of the most renowned 20th-century classical musicians. Vintage pearl-finish 4.5 x 6.5 photo of Alfred Cortot in a half-length pose, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "A Madame Harold E. Yainoll, respectueux et affectueux souvenir, Alf. Cortot.” In very good to fine condition, with light silvering to the darker areas of the image, and some shiny emulsion irregularity to the bottom edge. From the collection of Stephen Adamson.
