Description

Giant 1954 drawing of Charlie Brown, done by Schulz at a school carnival

Outstanding original vintage drawing of the early, 'rounder' Charlie Brown, accomplished by Schulz in red-orange ink on an off-white 10.5 x 13.5 sheet, signed and inscribed on the right side, "To Marc, Schulz." Matted and framed to an overall size of 16.75 x 19.75. A few very subtle ripples, otherwise fine, bright, clean condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original owner, who explains: "In about 1954, I attended kindergarten at Walter Hines Page Elementary School in South Minneapolis. At the time, Charles Schulz's daughter also attended Page Elementary. Charles Schulz appeared at our local school carnival and made drawings of kids for 50 cents each, and my mother purchased this drawing of Charlie Brown for me." A superlative example boasting an early date and charming provenance!
