Revolutionary War-dated manuscript DS, one page both sides, 8 x 13, August 11, 1784. Five members of the Marine Society of Newburyport sign a warrant for a town meeting, with topics to include choosing "five overseers of the poor," "the business of building the Workhouse," "a certain gore of land laying in bottles Lane so called, being in front of Edward Swazey's land, which he has inclosed," and "measures the Town will come into respecting Mr. Ebenezer Morrison's Pothouse, now standing on the Town's land." Signed at the conclusion by Michael Hodge (naval officer), David Coats (naval officer), William Coombs (financier of the 1798 warship USS Merrimack), William Bartlet (financier of the 1798 warship USS Merrimack), and Edward Wigglesworth (commander of the 6th Continental Regiment).
