Original 6 x 8 albumen photograph of Abraham Lincoln and his son Tad, affixed to its original 11 x 14 publisher's mount, titled "Abraham Lincoln as a Father" below, featuring Lincoln's facsimile signature on the right side. Originally taken on February 9, 1864, by Anthony Berger in Mathew Brady's Washington D.C. studio, this is one of the most enduring and poignant portraits of President Lincoln ever captured. This large example of the famous image was published by Charles Desilver in Philadelphia, and bears an 1865 copyright notice along the bottom. Contemporary, oversized examples of this iconic photograph are difficult to find. In fine condition, with mild staining and rippling to edges.
