Description

"The problem is spending, not taxes"

TLS as vice president, signed “George,” one page, 6.5 x 9, personal letterhead, December 2, 1987. Letter to J. Knox McConnell, the president of the First National Bank of Keystone, in full: "I just want to acknowledge your first Monthly Report. I am already moving on some of the issues. Catastrophic insurance is important, and I hope we will get a reasonable bill signed before the next President is elected. I agree with you on taxes. The problem is spending, not taxes. I still feel that literacy is an important question for our nation. We must do better. I know we don't disagree on the cause, but perhaps we disagree on whether it makes sense politically to talk about it as much as I am. I won't reply to every category, but I just wanted you to know that I read the whole piece with keen interest." In fine condition.
