Description

French painter (1771-1835) whose work focused in the genres of history and neoclassical painting. Rare manuscript DS in French, signed “Gros,” one page, 6.75 x 9.75, December 1834. Document listing expenses for the Academy of Beaux Arts, covering the period from March 7 to November 14, 1834. Signed at the conclusion by Antoine-Jean Gros, and countersigned by French printer and type founder Firmin Didot, who adds a few lines at the bottom. In very good to fine condition, with light soiling and overall creasing. Accompanied by a receipt from noted autograph dealer Paul C. Richards.
