Written from Madrid, Spain, a letter to landscape painter Edwin Landseer, in part: "I take the liberty of introducing into your acquaintance Mr. Alexander Hamilton, who has been nearly two years past in Spain as Secretary of Legation. He is a young gentleman of most admirable qualities both of head and heart; and has no affection for the arts cultivated by observant travel." In very good to fine condition, with creasing to the upper left, and overall light irregular toning.
