Description

"Freedom from time, gravity and reality is an ancient dream. Nightmare allowed that"

TLS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, April 16, 1986. Letter to Gary Lorenz, in part: “My favorite films are the ones I’ve written myself. I suppose because they are more personal and original to me. (And maybe a little better, too.) Those would be Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. I also wrote Hills II as well, but that film was released in an incomplete form by the producers, and I’m not particularly fond of it. Nightmare, I guess, was the best and most favorite of those three, especially because it seems to have been enjoyed by so many people, and gotten me so much new work, too! Also, it was just pure fun to imagine all of the scenes, since the framework of dreams allowed me total freedom to take the audience anywhere I wanted. Freedom from time, gravity and reality is an ancient dream. Nightmare allowed that.” In fine condition, with trivial wear to top edge.
