Description

Businessmen Henry Wells (1805-1878) and William Fargo (1818-1881) founded the American Express Company in 1850 and the Wells Fargo Company in 1851. Partly-printed DS, one page, 12 x 8.5, October 13, 1865. A handsomely engraved certificate for one share of capital stock in the American Express Company, issued to James Edwards, signed at the bottom by “Henry Wells” as President and “Wm. G. Fargo” as Secretary. In very good condition, with staining over much of the document.
