Description

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 13.5 x 8.5, March 9, 1816. President Madison issues to “Peter Dills Assignee of Thomas Fisher,” a tract of land in the “southwest quarter of section Twelve of Township Seventeen in range Fifteen of the Lands directed to be sold at Lanesville by the act of Congress, entitled 'An act providing for the sale of the lands of the United States in the Territory north west of the Ohio, and above the mouth of Kentucky river.'" Signed neatly at the conclusion by President Madison, and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office Josiah Meigs. Lower left bears the original white paper seal. In very good condition, with scattered staining, creasing, and small areas of vellum loss.
