Description

Oversized Elvis poster signed by the King and the Colonel

Gorgeous color 21.75 x 27.75 poster of Elvis in his prime, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, "To Claude, from, Elvis Presley." The poster is also signed in the lower portion in ballpoint by Colonel Tom Parker and his right-hand man Tom Diskin. Lower left bears a preprinted facsimile signature. Professionally linen-backed to a slightly larger size and meticulously and beautifully restored to fine condition.

The Presley signature was obtained at the Las Vegas Hilton International in August 1972. As the president of the Spring Fever Elvis Presley Fan Club, the consignor organized a contest with a grand prize that consisted of traveling to Las Vegas and having a meet-and-greet with Elvis (the contest was won by a girl from Texas named Sandra Wheeler).

Once in Vegas, the club officials coordinated with Colonel Parker and arranged a meeting with Presley before one of his shows. At the meeting, the group presented to Presley a chain with an Egyptian Cross with a central rhinestone. As a sign of his appreciation, Presley dedicated the poster to the consignor. When the meeting had finished, Tom Diskin, who had accompanied the group to Presley’s dressing room, also signed the poster; Colonel Parker signed the poster a day earlier, when he helped arrange the Presley get-together.

UPDATE: Provenance added to description.
