Hanrahan, who had served as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission from 1948-1949. In full: "I am very happy to receive your letter of the eighth. I am glad you like Harry McDonald—I am sure he will do a great job." Truman adds a handwritten postscript: "Hope you had a grand Christmas and that 1952 will be good to you." In fine condition, with some light creasing in the blank areas. Harry McDonald served on the Securities and Exchange Commission from 1947 to 1951, and then became the last chair of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation from 1952-1953.
