Partly-printed DS, signed “M. Blair,” one page, 14.25 x 13, April 3, 1861. As Postmaster General, Montgomery Blair commissions John C. Green, in the wake of his taking the oath of office, as a "Postmaster, authorized to execute the duties of that Office at Mechanicsville" in New York. Signed neatly at the conclusion by Blair. In very good to fine condition, with tape repairs on the back to edge tears and fold separations. An interesting document that predates the start of the Civil War by nine days.
