Description

Combat medic with the 77th Infantry Division in World War II, who famously saved 75 men during the Battle of Okinawa (1919-2006). His heroic actions not only earned him the unique distinction of becoming the first and only conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor during World War II, but his story was later vividly retold in the Oscar-winning 2016 film Hacksaw Ridge. FDC with a cachet honoring Doss as a recipient of the Medal of Honor, signed in blue ballpoint, "Desmond T. Doss, C.M.H." A small autograph note from Doss is affixed to the reverse: "This cover is free to you but any others are $3.00 and a self address envelope, D. H. Doss." In fine condition.
