Description

Sending thanks for a nerdy necktie, glad that it "showed the grid instead of the galena detector!"

Prolific American inventor (1873-1961) often referred to as 'the father of radio' for his pioneering work in wireless telegraphy. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, November 10, 1955. Letter to Otis Fitchett, in part: "The lovely necktie which your wife painted for me arrived this morning, and I was happy to wear it at a luncheon this noon, pointing out its beauty and significance to the electronic engineers who were present! This is the first four-in-hand tie I have worn in many years. I always wear a bow-tie, but I esteem this necktie to be one of the finest, if not the finest, that I have ever worn. I am happy that your wife followed your advice and showed the grid instead of the galena detector!" In very good to fine condition, with light edge creasing and toning, and a tear to the left margin.
