Description

ALS signed “W. T. Sherman, General,” one page both sides, 5 x 8, Headquarters, Army of the United States letterhead, November 9, 1880. Letter to General Edward Follansbee Noyes, US Minister to France. In part: "One of my…friends Mrs. Charlotte E. Hall of San Francisco is now abroad, with her children seeking health…her husband remaining in San Francisco to recover losses sustained in business. Should she apply to you I beg you will extend to her such courtesy…for I assure you she is abundantly worthy." In very good to fine condition, with partial edge splits to folds. Accompanied by an engraved portrait bearing a facsimile signature.
