Color first edition of the Apollo 8 Lunar Orbit Chart, 41 x 12, dated December 4, 1968, displaying areas in darkness and earthshine, lunar sunset and sunrise terminator lines for the 1st and 10th revolutions, and a wide assortment of lunar landmarks and regions, including Mare Tranquillitatis, the site for the Apollo 11 moon-landing. Titled in the lower right corner, "Apollo Lunar Orbit Chart (ALO), Apollo Mission 8, 1st and 10th Revolutions, 23 December 1968 Launch Date." Lithographed by ACIC 12-68, and prepared under the direction of the Department of Defense by the Aeronautical Chart and Information Center. Rolled and in fine condition, with a few small surface creases and vertical folds. From the personal collection of Paul Kruppenbacher, a member of the NASA Houston Landing and Recovery Division who trained Apollo astronauts in water recovery procedures and was deployed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers for crew and spacecraft recovery operations.
