Appealing sterling silver key chain given to friends and White House staff as a Christmas gift by President Roosevelt in 1940, featuring a 1.25″ charm of his Scottish terrier Fala on one side, and a lucky horseshoe on the other. The back of the horseshoe is marked "Sterling." In 1940, FDR had his secretary Missy Le Hand order 212 sterling silver Scottie key chains from Hammacher Schlemmer of New York for $1 each. Fifteen were returned, leaving 197 in circulation. In fine condition.
