Original color 30.5 x 41 promotional poster for a series of concerts by The Clash at the Bond International Casino in New York City in late May-early June 1981, featuring the band's logo in black lettering below a red band image with text, "Extra" and "Sold Out!" Lower portion notes the scheduled dates as being from May 28th to June 3rd. Rolled and in very good to fine condition, with scattered creasing.
The Clash played a series of 17 concerts at the Bond International Casino in New York City in May and June 1981 in support of their ambitious fourth album Sandinista! Eight shows were originally scheduled, but given the venue's legal capacity limit of 1750, the concerts were wantonly oversold and the New York City Fire Department was forced to cancel the Saturday, May 30th performance. The Clash condemned the greed of the promoters while conversely doubling the original booking with a total of 17 dates extending through June 13th. An historic poster that marks The Clash's rise from 'next big thing' to one of the biggest bands in the world.
