Description

American businessman (1861-1912) who died in the sinking of the RMS Titanic; after the ship struck an iceberg, Widener placed his wife and her maid in a lifeboat. The women were rescued by the steamship RMS Carpathia, but Widener and his son Harry perished on the Titanic. DS, signed “Geo. Widener,” one page, 11.75 x 8.25, October 18, 1905. Handsomely engraved stock certificate for 100 shares in Philadelphia Traction Company, issued to Mary Elizabeth Fuller. Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by George Widener as president. In fine condition, with several cancellation holes touching the signature.
