The memo field notes: "Additional Capital Advance for Dr. J. N. Rose." In very good to fine condition, with paper loss to the lower right side. Joseph Nelson Rose was a noted botanist and assistant curator at the Smithsonian, whom Edison had hired to collect plants in Texas and Mexico in a search for something to produce latex and provide America with a domestic source of rubber.
