ALS signed “W. C. Bryant,” one page, 5 x 8.25, December 13, 1859. Written from New York, a letter to D. S. Coddington, in full: "I have not yet declined to deliver the address of which you speak in your note of the 8th instant just put into my hands. Should I do so, it would be presumptuous in me who am not a member of the Historical Society, to advise the Committee to whom to apply unless they ask me. In that event, I will mention your name with what I know of your ability, and the fact that you have an address nearly prepared." In fine condition.
