Reed,” one page, 7.25 x 9.25, October 25, 1784. Letter of introduction for a businessman, recognizing the squeeze on credit in Atlantic commerce that came with the resumption of international trade following the Revolutionary War. In part: "This will be handed you by Mr. Campbell a Gentleman entering into Business here under the Firm of Campbell & Fullerton. In the shock of American Credit I am very sensible you will be very cautious, but I believe on the present Occasion you need not be apprehensive of running any considerable Risque."
