Description

Politician (1823-1878) most notable for being the 'boss' of Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in the politics of 19th-century New York. Personal check, 7.25 x 2.75, filled out in another hand and signed by Tweed, "W. M. Tweed," payable to cash for $333.33, August 4, 1870. In fine condition, with cancellation cuts and one cancellation punch hole.
