French neurologist (1825-1893) whose work on hysteria and uses of hypnosis greatly impressed Freud and contributed to his studies of the unconscious. Interesting ADS in French, signed "Charcot," one page, 8 x 12, March 4, 1893. Charcot writes out a medicinal treatment. In full (translated): "1. Apply a series of gauze pads of Milan (as indicated in the drawing), 2. Every third day, upon awakening in the morning, take 1/2 glass or 1 glass of Hunyadi water 3. On the alternate days, in the morning before eating, take a teacup of macerated quassia amara 4. Immediately before each meal, take a cordial glass of 3 drops of Pearson's solution 5. every evening at bedtime, take two tablespoons of the following solution Water-200 grams, Potassium Bromide-10 grams." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and toning, a missing lower left corner tip, and a split to the top of the vertical fold.
