Description

Collection of six items signed by Supreme Court Justices Earl Warren, Potter Stewart, and Arthur J. Goldberg:

One item signed by Warren: a vintage matte-finish 7 x 9 photo of Warren in a suit and tie, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Kenneth Browne, with the best wishes of Earl Warren.” Framed and in fine condition.

Three items signed by Stewart: an outstanding vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 portrait by Ackad of Washington, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, "With best wishes to the Ken Brownes, Potter Stewart, 1959"; a TLS on Supreme Court letterhead, November 4, 1958, in part: "None of the press photographs taken during the early days of my appointment have been made available to me"; and a TLS on Supreme Court letterhead, May 29, 1959, in part: "I have had some photographs made recently, and I am happy to enclose a print which I have autographed." In very good to fine condition, with some creasing, a couple of paperclip impressions to the top edge, and two small surface dings to the left background area of the photograph. Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes and a letter by his secretary, Elizabeth Kenney.

Two items signed by Goldberg: a vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Goldberg in a suit and tie, signed in the lower border in fountain pen, "Arthur J. Goldberg"; and a TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, US Department of Labor letterhead, March 3, 1961, in part: "Thank you for your letter…I enjoyed reading the clipping by Mr. Kelland which you enclosed." In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing to the photo and staple holes to the letter. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the letter.
