TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Supreme Court of the United States letterhead, January 24, 1928. Letter to F. T. Crommett, in part: "It was very good of you to write your kindly letter about my boy's speech at Ford Hall Forum, and I am delighted that you think he made a good impression. He is a good boy. He is a boy who works hard and is anxious to do right and accomplish something for the public, and I hope he is doing it. But the obstructions to justice in the prosecution of criminals in the law are many and it is sometimes discouraging, but Charlie is a hopeful young man, and I am quite sure he will be an optimist to the end." In fine condition, with edge toning and binder dings to the right edge. Accompanied by an unsigned engraved portrait. From the Collection of Dr. Lawrence E. Miller.
