Gibson," one page, 7.25 x 10.5, Manger Vanderbilt letterhead, September 3, 1957, addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Browne, in full: "With traveling and competing all over the country, my mail imposes quite a problem. One, I know you will understand. Sorry it took so long to fill your request, but happy to do so. Thanks for your patience"; and a vintage glossy 3.5 x 5.5 full-length photo of Althea Gibson posing on the tennis court, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, "To the Ken Brownes, with best wishes, A. Gibson." In overall very good to fine condition, with a light paperclip impression to the photo, and irregular toning, edge tears, and chips to the letter. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed by Gibson, who incorporates her signature in the return address field.
