Description

Silent film star, director, producer, and screenwriter (1882-1924). TLS signed “Thos. H. Ince,” one page, 7.5 x 10.5, The Studios of Thomas H. Ince letterhead, September 16, 1920. Letter to H. Austin Adams, in part: "I have…entered into a voluminous correspondence with Washington and I believe I have presented the claims of 'The Way Out' in such a way that the department will listen to the urgency of the opportunity. The matter must be left in their hands now, as it would be impossible for me to bear the burden of a work of national import without the cooperation of the Federal Authorities." In fine condition. Given Ince’s importance in Hollywood history and unusual early death, his autographic material is both very collectible and extremely rare—only the fourth Ince-signed item we have ever offered.
