Signed book: Quinx, or The Ripper's Tale by Lawrence Durrell. First edition. London: Faber and Faber, 1985. Hardcover with dust jacket, 5.25 x 8, 201 pages. Signed on the title page in black felt tip, "Lawrence Durrell, 1985." In fine condition. This was the final installment in Durrell's 'quincunx' of novels, The Avignon Quintet, published from 1974 to 1985.
Signed book: In the Arena by Booth Tarkington. Second printing. NY: McClure, Phillips & Co., 1905. Hardcover, 5.5 x 7.75, 276 pages. Signed on the first free end page in fountain pen, "This book was the result of an attack of politics, followed by a session of the Indiana legislature and typhoid fever. Booth Tarkington." In very good to fine condition, with light stains to the signed page, light sunning to the spine, and partial cracking to the front inner hinge. In 1902, Tarkington served one term in the Indiana House of Representatives as a Republican, an experience from which he drew inspiration for some of the political short stories in this volume.
