Description

Group lot of seven TLSs from Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, each signed “Ted,” each one page, dated between 1968 and 1993, United States Senate and personal letterhead. Each letter is addressed to Lewis H. Weinstein. Highlights include: December 18, 1968: “Again, may I thank you for attending the reception last week. Because so many of our friends joined us in this sad but necessary effort, the evening was a successful and memorable one. Ethel and the rest of my family join me in extending to you our deepest gratitude”; July 30, 1970: “Enclosed is a copy of a letter sent to President Nixon by several Senators expressing a continued concern with the Middle East situation,” with letter copy stapled to upper left corner; and September 17, 1990: “Harvey [Gantt] represents the best that the Democratic Party stands for and his campaign is one I am personally very committed to.” Kennedy adds a few brief handwritten postscripts to three of the letters. Also included is a felt tip signature, “Ted Kennedy, 1973,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2.5 card, and a personal United States Senate card belong to Kennedy, which he has signed in black ink. In overall fine condition.
