American oil executive (1878-1962) who was president of Standard Oil from 1917 to 1937. TLS signed “W. C. Teagle,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Standard Oil Company letterhead, October 17, 1926. Letter to movie mogul Jesse L. Lasky, in full: "I greatly regret that pressure of business matters prevented my taking advantage of your courtesy in giving me a letter of introduction to your Mr. M. E. Hoffman of your local studio here. I came out here on a pleasure trip but the inevitable occurred and the business end won out. I wish to take this opportunity of thanking you for your courtesy and will consider my proposed visit to your studio a pleasure deferred." In very good to fine condition, with light staining to the upper left corner, and three file-related holes to the top edge.
