Description

Football player (1905-1942) who played for the Army college team and for the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers franchises. He died as a result of a bizarre accident when he fell down an entire flight of New York subway steps at the age of 37. Cagle was pictured on the cover of Time magazine for September 23, 1929, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1954. Rare ink signature, "Chris K. 'Red' Cagle, Army,” on an off-white 4.5 x 2.75 card. In fine condition, with some light soiling.
