TLS as president, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, February 16, 1937. Letter to James D. Evans, in full: "I want you to know how greatly I appreciate your letter of February ninth. I have read the accompanying copies of correspondence between yourself and Mr. Taft with very great interest. In the light of the present controversy over the proposal to reorganize the Federal Judiciary, Mr. Taft's comments are illuminating—even prophetic in their revelation of an attitude. I am grateful to you for bringing the exchange of letters to my attention." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and a copy of the original letter from Evans.
